When to Backlog a Game

A bit of back story here. I write these weekly articles called What I’m Playing where I share my progress on the games I’m working through. Typically, I try to stick with these games until I’ve finished them and have written a review. However, I’ve recently come to terms that I had to do a cleanse and backlog same games. So, this is why this article exists.

Today, I want to talk about when you may want to backlog a game you’ve been playing through. Let’s get started.

It Isn’t Fun Anymore

This is the most important factor in my opinion. We all play games to have fun, don’t we? Even if I’m working on a game for a review, I want it to be a fun expedience and something I genuinely look forward to. The unfortunate truth is that sometimes, games just become dull after a certain period of time. I’ve found that personally, anything that lasts over a month for me loses its shine.

We all experience situations differently so for some people, this may not happen at all, it may take longer or may happen sooner. The point is, I think a lot of individuals experience this and it isn’t wrong if you want something new.

New Games

This sort of ties into what I wrote above but in a different way. I’m sure we’ve all done this at some point. That new game releases and it’s all everyone is talking about so you obviously want to play it too, right? I know I’m guilty of this, like currently it is (paid link) Digimon Story Time Stranger and (paid link) Pokemon Legends Z-A. It doesn’t make it wrong either, we are only human after all.

Asking When Is It Over?

I think when you start to dread playing a game instead of looking forward to it, then you need to break from it. It’s unfortunate when it happens, but there’s no reason to allow a game to become a chore.

Conclusion

What games have you had to shelf lately? Unfortunately, I just removed 4 of the 5 games I was playing. While this is a bit annoying, I also find that it’s a fresh start. I hope you all will join me for future articles soon.

As always, happy gaming.
