Welcome all, to another article. This time, we are discussing the newly released Pokemon Legends Z-A, which if you don’t already have a (paid link) copy of, you should get that. However, what we are specifically talking about Z-A’s autosave feature and how you can’t disable it. Let’s discuss.
A Bit of History
Starting with (paid links) Pokemon Sword and Shield, they introduced an autosave mechanic. It was present in those games and also (paid links) Scarlet and Violet. Now, I disliked this feature very much as we all know how useful manual saving can be, especially when it comes to legendaries. Fortunately, you could disable this and forget its existence, but now, you can’t.
Why?
I’m yet to think of an actual reason this was taken out. Other than making fans mad over it, which I have been seeing some complaints. I think autosave wouldn’t be such a big deal if handled more like the also newly released (paid link) Digimon Story Time Stranger, where the autosave and the manual save are separately listed and are able to be chosen from.
Can It Be Fixed?
It is entirely possible that Game Freak could patch the disable feature in, but it’s very unclear if they will. If enough fans complained, then they might but until everyone causes enough if an uproar, it won’t happen. Truthfully, I want it back because I dread seeing how bad this could be.
Conclusion
Is this a problem for you? Will you change how you play the game? I’m unsure of that last question for myself but I can say that I’m having a blast with the game so far and hope to keep it going as I go. Make sure to keep track of future What I’m Playing articles from me to keep up with my progress and as always, happy gaming!
