Ah yes, already time for this again. It’s always fun to discuss these games though, especially when I have more than just a few to talk about. Make sure to see August‘s pickups, as I’ll be referencing them a little in this blog. Without any further to say though, let’s get started.
PS3

Viking
I hadn’t seen this game for years. It was at a local thrift store for cheap (as you can read on the case. I need to clean it soon) and thought I would give it a try.
PS5

Astro Bot
Where do I even begin with this game. It has been one of my favorite experiences for a long time, as far as gaming goes. Each level is different and comes with its own form of challenges. The different buddies you get to help are neat too. Like the monkey who helps climb walls, and the chicken who acts as a rocket. I’m currently on the 4th galaxy and having a blast. I can’t recommend it enough. Maybe consider buying yourself a (paid link) copy.
White Day 2
I talked about this and also Astro Bot in a blog discussing games I was looking forward to in 2024. I haven’t been able to spend any time with this game yet though, unfortunately. I’m waiting until I have a night free to do so.
Vampire Survivors
Go’s I’ve talked about this game to death. I’ve written a review for the base game and also the co-op. Now, here we are buying it again for the 3rd time, and yet, I’m still super happy about it.
This game is very addictive, and a great roguelike bullet hell. I would recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already, and maybe it will be your gateway into the genre like it was for me. Check it out for yourself.
Midnight Remastered
I haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but hopefully soon. I got some of these on sale, so I snatched them up.

Kitten Island
I’ve been back and forth on buying this. I enjoy platformers, but we all know shovelware is plentiful nowadays. When I saw it for $.99 though, I figured it was worth a try. It hasn’t been touched yet.
Lunar Nightmare
This was a newer release and thought it might be fun for October. I haven’t tried it yet, but I will be soon and hopefully a review will be followed shortly.
Brotato
Oh how can I pass up this one? It’s highly regarded as far as roguelikes go, one of my favorite genres, and I thought it was finally time to see what the fuss was about. Immediately I was intrigued when the game started. Multiple guns, buffs, and multiple characters to unlock and choose from? Sounds great!!
I only played one game, but lasted several rounds. It’s a fun title, and cheap too.
Steam

Wedding Witch
This might sound like an echi title, and it sort of is in some ways. Though, it’s really a roguelike bullet hell that doesn’t change the formula too much, but manages to be fun none the less.
3DS

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
My best friend and I have been playing a lot of New Horizons lately. We started this journey over a year ago and took a break, and now we’re back to it. That was her first Animal Crossing title, so now I’m introducing her to New Leaf. I’ve already played a considerable amount of this game when it released and years following, but very sadly, the copy was lost somewhere. So here we are again. We haven’t started it yet, but hopefully will be soon.
Systems & Controllers

Mario DSi XL
Okay I didn’t really need this after getting that original Mario DS last month, but I found it for a good deal and couldn’t leave it. I also didn’t mind the upgrade in screen size nor brightness.
Astro Bot PS5 Controller
I rarely buy new controllers before I need to. This is a special edition controller however for a game that I’m enjoying a whole lot, so I feel it was warranted. It has a smooth feel to it. The eyes do not light up during use though, which I honestly thought they might, but that isn’t a big deal.
Final Words
It’s been a great month for pickups, and I’ve had a lot of fun with the games I’ve been playing as of lately. I’m sure the following months will be interesting as well as we approach the holiday season. Thanks for reading my September pickups this year.
