Upcoming Games in 2024 I Can’t Wait to Play

There are plenty of games that could be thrown on this list, especially some Nintendo titles, but I’m going to make an attempt to keep this list somewhat short and sweet, and tackle games that may not receive as much attention as others. With this said, I’m not cutting out popular or potentially popular titles, so expect a mixture. Anyway, let’s discuss some upcoming games.

Cat Quest III

Release date: August 8th

Systems: Switch, PS4, PS5, PC

This is a much anticipated installment to a beloved series. The first Cat Quest, which I did a review for, really captured my heart with its hilarious dialogue, cute characters and some epic fights. Now, when I say epic, I don’t mean in the same way that one would regard an Elden Ring boss, for example.

Cat Quest games aren’t necessarily very difficult, and can be beaten in under 20 hours at best. They aren’t long, but they are a ton of fun and offers a nice getaway from the longer RPGs. Either way, I’ll be ready for this one when it paws its way over to us.

Astro Bot

Release date: September 6th

Systems: PS5

Although it is sad that this game did not receive a PSVR 2 version at this moment, I am still extremely excited to see another entry into this series. The first game was a real gem with PSVR, and even though I didn’t dive too deep into Astro’s Playtoom, it was still a wonderful game to play too.

White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies

Release date: August 16th

Systems: PS5, Xbox Series

I never did actually play the first White Day, though I did have many attempts at it. I did however watch Eric Van Wilderman play it years ago, and loved it. With that said, this sequel has been many, many years in the making, and I’m stoked to see it finally closing in on a release. I haven’t done too much research on it, as I think I simply would like to be surprised when I do play.

Dollhouse: Behind the Broken Mirror

Release date: October 18th

Systems: PS5, Xbox Series

This was a random find on (paid link) Amazon, which I have found cool games this way. When I first saw it, I thought it was honestly a sequel to Dollhouse from 2019. I wasn’t too big into that game, but I still wanted to check it out.

To my surprise, it is not a sequel. It is a brand new game, and one that slightly reminds me of In Sound Mind. Though the connections are loose, so don’t think I’m saying it will be like that game at all.

Here’s what Amazon has as a description;

“Explore a dark & twisted reality – Enter the broken mind of Eliza De Moor, suffering from amnesia after colapsing on stage. With the help of Doctor Stern and a new experimental medicine, you try to recover your shattered memories by changing your very perception of reality. A dark and nightmarish reality awaits you as you navigate through the remains of your childhood home of Ravenhill Mansion and confront the horrors within. Will you be able to piece together your memories and uncover the mystery, or will you get lost in this dark and twisted reality?”

That certainly caught my attention. Exploring a mansion usually does though, so maybe that isn’t saying much. Anyway, I’ll be waiting for this one to drop its physical release.

Ys X Nordics

Release date: October 25th

Systems: PS4, PS5, Switch, PC

Following my somewhat recently found love for this series after reviewing Ys IX, I was hyped to see the 10th entry announced. Even more so now that we have a NA release date, October 25th.

The gameplay looks similar but also different from the past two entries. This time, there are only two protagonists to play as. I’m curious to see where the story leads and how it all unfolds.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Release date: October 29th

Systems: XSS, XSX, PS5, PC

I was a huge fan of the first Life is Strange game, and the time travel aspects that it implemented. The second game, Before the Storm also seemed like quite the story, but I unfortunately only made it through half of it before getting distracted. I would like to give it another shot one day, maybe even before playing Double Exposure.

I’m very happy to see Max back, and an older version of her at that. The new powers seem cool as well, and I can’t wait to see how this double reality works in game.

Conclusion

This upcoming games list could keep going on for a while with the likes of the Mario games announced, Zelda, and whatnot, but I’ll leave it off with these. With so many great games releasing this year, there’s plenty to choose from. Hope you all are excited for some of these too.

Peace.

I love the Cat Quest games and tried the demo for the third. Don’t know Dollhouse but it sounds interesting.

I never did try the demo, as I wanted to be mostly surprised when I hopped in, but I am very happy that they released one. As for Dollhouse, I randomly found it on Amazon as I was browsing. I’m always up for another horror title.
