I just finished watching this neat little anime, and now, I’m going to deliver my The Lost Village review.

Number of Episodes:

12

Story:

A group of 30 people join a tour of Nanaki Village, where they will start their lives anew. They each have abandoned their old lives in search of reinventing themselves, with new names even.

Upon entering their new home, they’re quick to notice that they’re the only residents there. Soon, strange occurrences start taking place, and they believe they’re not so safe any longer.

As past traumas start to rise, and the realization of exactly what they’re facing comes into light, they either have to learn to accept who they are or risk succumbing to their own darkness instead.

Characters:

When meeting all 30 characters (more than actually…) it gets to be a bit daunting at first. I know I was a bit taken back with the information, and knew I would just have to learn everyone’s names as the show went along. I think they did a decent way of doing this, as some of them were more important than others, but the ones in the back-ground still played an important role as well.

Learning most of their past traumas actually was great for character growth, and we get to see why exactly they decided to leave their old lives behind. I can think of a character or two that we didn’t get to learn about, that I wish we really would have, but it didn’t make a big difference in the overall story.

I will say, the show offers some twists and turns, secrets about some characters that took me by surprise a bit. These were welcomed, and added a layer.

Length:

I feel as though this was something that was slightly lacking. The show did a great job of building suspense and interest, in my opinion, and then it died down ever so slightly. With an anime with only 12 episodes, it isn’t like this is anything new to me, but I do believe they could have done more with it if it had been given 24 episodes instead.

Right when I felt it was getting really spooky, and the real horror factor was setting in, it died off little by little. It was as if the bubble burst. However, that isn’t to say it isn’t worth a watch or had a bad story. It was just something I think could have really been built better if it had a longer run time.

Scores:

Story: 7/10

Animation 7/10

Characters 7/10

Overall:

Final Words:

While this one didn’t take my top rewards for best horror anime, it definitely takes a nice spot. It’s something I feel I would watch again one day, but its lack of scare factor now may make it a longer interval of time.

Thanks for reading my The Lost Village review, and if you want something more action packed, go look at my review for Darwin’s Game.

  1. […] Arc is absolutely amazing, you can pick and choose which ones to watch. There are plenty of other animes that I enjoy, but this is the one I find myself going back […]
