Here are my top 5 video games of all time as of now. This is my personal list and doesn’t reflect what others may think.
1. Chrono Trigger
This RPG is masterful. It’s got drama, friendship, heartbreak, and a sense of solace in trying to do everything you can to succeed. It’s definitely on my list of classics to play.
2. Mega Man X
With all respect to the original series, Mega Man X elevated the genre and this legacy with the upgrade system, story, and the intro of Zero. I rented this game a ton when I was a kid and I wouldn’t change my mind if I could do it all over again..
3. Red Dead Redemption
A grand opus to the last days of the ol west. This story had a great impact on me about trying to do right with the time you got and seeing the passage of time pass. Definitely a game not to miss.
4. Marvel vs. Capcom 2
I burned a lot of quarters on this game. And Area 51. I don’t regret my time at all with any of it. One of the best this-makes-sense as a mashup game of time.
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
This game takes everything that made Turtles in Time the best best ’em up game ever and evolved it with the awesomeness of the late 80s cartoon. Pure Pixel perfection.
Honorable Mention: Pokemon Silver
Pokemon Silver and Gold evolved Pokemon for what they started and paved the path for what the future held. The breeding, day/night cycle, gym leaders, and in game events boosted what Pokemon could be pushed to and even more. Now, we have fully rendered 3D games on the Switch. And probably the future console.
