Alright everyone, if you follow GameFreak’s usual release patterns, you’d know this is the year we should see a remake of some kind around October or November. With the last remake being of (paid link) Diamond and (paid link) Pearl, I think it is time we discussed what the next round of Pokemon remakes should be.

Let this be known, these are merely my opinions and not actual rumors.

The Series So Far…

Just a quick recap, so we are all on the same page. I’ll list when the mainline story games last got their most recent release:

Gen I: Let’s Go Eevee & Pikachu (2018)

Gen II: HeartGold & SoulSilver (2009)

Gen III: Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire (2014)

Gen IV: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (2021)

Gen V: Black/White & Black/White 2 (2011 & 2012)

Gen VI: X & Y (2013)

Gen VII: Sun/Moon & Ultra Sun/Moon (2016 & 2017)

Gen VIII: Sword & Shield (2019)

Gen IX: Scarlet & Violet (2022)

As you can see, some of these have never received remakes while some have been recent.

The Next to be Remade?

If you refer to what I have listed above, I would think the most obvious one would be Gen V, since it has been 12 (or nearly) years since the OG games were released, and they haven’t seen any form of touch ups since then. I have seen multiple people on different social media platforms also shouting for this to happen.

However…

If we go by length of time, then I would say Gen II is in need since it has been (nearly) 14 years since the last remake hit shelves. It is also worthy to note that since gen I was remade into Let’s Go titles, there have been several rumors and speculations about Gen II getting the same treatment.

When Will We Get News?

If we go by past years, we should hear something either in July or August. In all honesty, it could even be this month as well. Only time will tell though.

Expect future coverage when that day happens.
