Considering I just wrote about 7 Switch 2 multiplayer games, I thought I would change lanes and now write about 5 Nintendo Switch 2 single player games. Now these will not be in any specific order. Before we begin, I would like to make a note that (paid link) Cyberpunk 2077 will not be on this list simply because I have not played it yet. Anyway, let’s begin!
Donkey Kong Bananza

Genre: Adventure/Platformer
One of the best games to come out last year and there were plenty of them. Now I won’t repeat everything that’s in my review, but I’ll say that this game has a lot of content to enjoy. The story alone is a fun trip but then you have bananas to collect. Alongside any side trips you wish to take, this game can easily deliver a fun, light hearted journey into the underground. Resident Evil Requiem

Genre: Horror/Action
This had to make it on this list. It’s simply such a great experience and I know people are torn on if you should start with the first Resident Evil game or if it’s okay to jump in somewhere else but I think this game offers a really interesting introduction if you are new to the series. If you’re a longtime fan, you’ll notice all the nods to the series and details that would be otherwise missed. If you’re new, then you’ll be gifted with a great story and some amazing gameplay.
Go check out our review if you want further insight than that. If you decide to get a (paid link) copy then also remember that the (paid link) Generation Pack exists too, which includes Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster

Genre: RPG
I admit, this isn’t a title I’ve beaten yet but it’s one I was very hyped for when the (paid link) system launched. I made it to chapter 2 and then got sidetracked with other games. However, as an RPG, it’s something that delivers a full, fun experience for a single player title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong

Genre: Metroidvania
I had a thoroughly good time with this game when it released up until the last boss fight. It’s a ride and a rough challenge for anyone who wants one. You can play this before Hollow Knight, as I did, and it didn’t do any damage to when I did go back and play some of that game. You can read my review for Silksong and I also wrote about how playing Silksong first may have tainted and enhanced my playthrough for Hollow Knight, which you can read here.
Team Cherry did an amazing job, from the artwork to the gameplay. Each boss fight felt like a challenge to overcome. I would argue a lot of it has to do with remembering the boss’ movements and know what to do and when to do it. An example for me was The Last Judge. That was a major boss fight for me and it took me days to overcome. You can read my tips for this game before you enter. Have fun.
Hades II

Genre: Roguelike
I’ve been having a great time with this game myself. There’s just so much replay value and even when you fail, you have that thought of “just one more time!” It’s great if you want a game you can just sit and have fun with but also enjoy a challenge. I’ve gotten killed quite a few times and all I can really say is that it is trial and error. You have to find the right weapon for your playstyle and figure out what boons are the best for yourself when offered them. Go get you a (paid link) copy today!
Conclusion
That’s a wrap on these 5 Nintendo Switch 2 single player games. Hopefully you’ll treat yourself to one of them and have a good time. Make sure to check out our other articles, like our Switch 2 Buyer’s Guide and until next time, happy gaming!
