We all know the Nintendo Switch 2 is the hottest gaming item right now. There have been numerous first party titles hit the system in such a short span of time and all of them, so far, have been great. This leads us to this topic though, which Switch 2 multiplayer games are the best to sit down with family and friends with? I’m going to dive into that. Keep in mind, I’ll only be discussing the multiplayer aspects of the games below.

Mario Kart World

Genre: Racing

Players: 8 (Local) & 24 (Online)

This is a very obvious choice to start off with. You can easily spend a lot of time playing online or local with people, as it is something I’ve done plenty of. Given there are multiple modes to play in. These include the Grand Prix cups, Knock Out Tours, Battles or just free roam until you can’t take it anymore. You can check out our review for more information and then go buy yourself a (paid link) copy.

Pros:

Good replay

Plenty of modes

Lots of characters

Decent vehicles

Cons:

Only 8 cups

Needs new content

Mario Tennis Fever

Genre: Sports

Players: 4 (Local & Online)

I’ve been stuck to this game since it released and I’ve been very happy with it so far. There are a lot of different modes to venture into but we will discuss all of that later. For now, we’re here to talk about the multiplayer aspect. You have access to a few options here. You can play Free Play mode where you and other players can go against each other or CPUs or you can do tournaments, which are cups.

The cups work similar to that of (paid link) Mario Strikers, where each team is pitted against each other in a knockout diagram, the winners taking each other on until the finals.

You can also take to online through ranked matches or online rooms. You can join a room either by yourself or even with two people on the same system. From there, you choose settings based on what you’re looking for and go from there! This is a great Switch 2 multiplayer game with a long life.

Mario Tennis Fever offers a lot of fun for two people and will deliver laughs and challenges in different ways. Go get yourself a (paid link) copy and enjoy! See you on the courts!

Pros:

Challenging but fair

Lots of rackets and characters

Several modes to choose from

Cons:

Lacking character customization

Genre: Adventure

Players: 4 (local)

Although this isn’t the same kind of game this series is known for, it still delivers a fun experience when playing with someone else. For anyone who isn’t aware of what this game is, a group of kids go out in the water seeking treasure. You’ll have to go from island to island, rebuilding your raft each time, and working together to solve puzzles, find hidden secrets and more.

You can find out more details in our review. If you are more of a physical player, you can get a copy (paid link) here.

Pros:

Decent amount of islands

Fun and somewhat challenging gameplay

Cons:

Poor controls

Genre: Puzzle

Players:

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 offers a large variety of different methods to play with your friends and family. There’s versus, party, fusion and more! All of these offer unique ways to play with other players. You can do this locally through a shared screen or local wireless via separate systems. Then you have online where you can take on other players in a variety of ways of even play with friends!

If you enjoy puzzle titles, this is the one for you! It will make an excellent addition to your Switch 2 multiplayer games. Go grab yourself a (paid link) copy today.

Genre: Adventure

Players: 4

Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny is a return of the beloved Nicktoons Unite series. You’ll be choosing from a variety of characters to collect the Die of Power and beat the Dungeon Master in order to return everyone to their home worlds. It’s a fun adventure that can be challenging with a few bugs worth keeping in mind. You can read our review for more information. Grab your (paid link) Switch 2 copy and hop in with your friends!

Pros:

Fun gameplay

Good variety of characters and playstyle

Familiar and fun bosses

Cons:

Glitches

Level designs repeat

Kirby Air Riders

Genre: Racing

Players:

Kirby Air Riders offers a different kind of racing experience from Mario Kart World. While you’re still zipping around a track, you actually don’t have Grand Prix in local multiplayer. Now it was added as an online multiplayer option recently in an update. While local, you choose you stages and just play until you’ve had your fill. Sounds simple? It definitely isn’t. While racing is the main goal, you have to actively try to pass your opponents by riding their Star Stream to gain speed.

Air Ride isn’t the only option to play with your friends and family. There is also Top Ride, which you have a top down view of yourself and three others, going around a small map. See the picture below for reference:

Then we have City Trail, which can be played in different ways such as mini games or an actual trial, which is where you ride around on vehicles, trying collect power ups and take out your opponents for points. You’ll be collecting different power ups that increase your stats, which then at the end of it, you’ll go into some type of mini game to see where the overall victor is.

It’s a great title that has a lot of different options available to people who wish to play in multiplayer. You certainly don’t want to miss this so go secure your (paid link) copy today! If you want it a little cheaper, then here is a (paid link) new copy on eBay that will save you a bit of money.

Pros:

Lots of unlock

Good replay value

Different style vehicles for everyone

Favorite characters to play as

Cons:

Could use more tracks

Bit of a learning curve

Unlocking some rides and characters can be very difficult

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World

Genre: Platformer

Players: 2 (Local)

Despite the name being ridiculously long now, the game is actually more fun than it was previously as just the (paid link) Switch version. You have the original story to play through plus the added Star Crossed World. You can read my review for that specific part here, but overall, this game offers a lot of fun times and some laughs too. Kirby shines in this 3D adventure.

Your player 2 is set as Bandana Waddle Dee. I find this to be a slight downgrade than having you player 2 using copy ability friends. However, it gives them more personality. You can grab your copy on (paid link) Amazon or get a pre-owned copy like (paid link) this one for cheaper.

Pros:

Plenty of worlds and levels

Fun puzzles and challenges

Good controls and graphics

Cons:

Player 2 is stuck as a single character

Conclusion

There you have it. There are 7 Nintendo Switch 2 multiplayer games to enjoy with you friends and family. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them in the future and enjoying the experiences they are sure to bring. Make sure to check out our Switch 2 Buyer’s Guide and if you don’t already have a (paid link) Switch 2, now is the time to get it.

Until next time, happy gaming!
