Hey, it’s everyone’s favorite time of the month! If you missed out on September‘s game pickups, then go check into those. October’s pickups gave me a lot of pre-orders, so expect to see a lot of newer games this time around. Let’s get into it.

PS4

Gravity Rush Steelbook Case

I already owned the game, but I found this custom case on Mercati and thought it was too cool to leave behind.

Gravity Rush 2

I’ve been thinking about Gravity Rush a lot lately, largely due to (paid link) Astro Bot. Well, I figured I would grab a copy of the second game while I could and go back to replay the first game since it’s been so long.

Final Fantasy Pixel Collection

If you haven’t heard about this, it’s Final Fantasy 1-6 all on one disc. There was a more limited run of it a year ago or so, but I wasn’t able to grab that one. It’s available on (paid link) Amazon still, if interested.

PS5

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

I’ve already owned this game once before, and sold it off after I had beaten it. Well, I’ve been in a big DBZ mood and thought it would fun to replay. It definitely has some issues, and it is old playing the same arcs, but it’s still enjoyable.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

There was a lot of hype going in after seeing everyone’s posts online. Unfortunately, all I’ve been able to do is play a couple of battles since I received it. Maybe I’ll get to play soon.

Metaphor

All I am hearing are positive remarks in regards to this game. The plan was to play it as soon I got it, but plans changed when I got in so many pre-orders at once. A lot of people are saying it’s just as good, if not better, than Persona 5. Might be worth looking more into if that interests you.

Reynatis

All the reviews for this game say it’s pretty bad. This is both from other critics and fellow gamers. Still, I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, all the negative talk made me shelf it for the time being.

Until Dawn

I was happy to see this brought to the (paid link) PS5, even if it was only released 8 years ago. the new Dual Sense features really interested me, so I’m curious to see how that goes. Unfortunately I have not been able to start it yet.

Silent Hill 2

I never have been a very huge fan of Silent Hill, but I’ve enjoyed what I have played from the series. Well, this remake looked way too good to pass on. I’ve gotten to play maybe 30 minutes so far, and I like how it’s been going. I’ve seen a lot of memes in regards to checking the map every few seconds and I absolutely understand it.

Monster Panic

I’ve discussed this game to death around here, talking about how it dropped on PSN, and then my review and also discussing my favorite weapons and accessories. I still think this game is pretty great though and it’s highly recommended for a roguelike auto shooter.

Palworld

I already bought this in February on Steam, but I thought playing it on the PS5 would be pretty cool. Sadly, I haven’t played much, and that’s due to the incredibly small text the game puts everything in. I can’t read it very well, and yes, I wear glasses. I wish there was a text size option. Anyway, I was happy to see it make its way to the system.

Gameboy

Bonk’s Adventure

So I bought this thinking it was a game from my childhood that I’ve been trying to track down for the past ten years. Unfortunately, I don’t remember very much about it, so it’s basically a shot in the dark. This was not the game, but it seems like a nice platformer regardless.

Switch

Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

I’ve really enjoyed my time with (paid link) Echoes. It’s different, but I think that’s what hooked me to begin with. Zelda is essentially a witch in this game, summoning different objects using her wand. I find battles to be interesting since there’s many different ways to defeat a monster. Should you throw rocks or summon a monster of your own? What monster? The varieties are plentiful.

Mario Party: Jamboree

This has to be one of the best (paid link) Mario Party games that has been made in years. Mario Party 9 I never cared for, and I admittedly never played Mario Party 10. The other two games on the Switch were pretty good, and a step in the right direction, but this has been the most fun I’ve had with one in a while.

Murder is Game Over: Deal Killer

I thought this looked like a fun murder mystery game, but I haven’t been able to try it. It also came to my attention that there was a game before this one, so I may want to check into that as well.

Zombie Survivors

I just wrote a review for this game, which I totally recommend reading. This is another Vampire Survivors clone, but it’s a fun one. I got maybe 7 hours tops playtime out of it, and have almost unlocked everything.

Mall Manager

I bought this thinking the idea behind it seemed fun. It did not quite live up to my expectations. If interested, go read the review for that.

XSX

Epic Mickey

I never did play very much of the original, but I did love the idea of it. So, here we are. I know I don’t usually purchase Xbox games, but this was the only copy available at the time and I took it. I’ve played for maybe 20 minutes, so I don’t have too much to say yet.

Systems

Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Switch Lite

Now, did I really need another Switch? No. Did I buy one anyway? Yes! I also have been using it exclusively for Echoes of Wisdom, which has made the game more memorable in some ways.

Conclusion

I’ve accumulated a few different games this month, and I hope to find the time to play more of them soon. I can say November will also be an interesting time, so be looking forward to that, and also more blogs in the future. Thank you for checking out my October game pickups for 2024.
