If you go and check PSN right now and look at the newly released titles, you’ll find this awesome roguelike for a solid $9.99. Monster Panic already took several hours of my time months ago, but yet, I had to play again when the opportunity arose. I did write a review for this game, but I’m still going to discuss it for a bit anyway.

Run Times

Probably one of my favorite aspects of this game is how long the runs are. Although Vampire Survivors is an awesome game, playing for 30 minutes every single time can be tiring or just not appealing depending on what is going on. Monster Panic fixes this, offering players runs that only last about 14 minutes. The clock actually only shows 13, but that’s when the boss appears. Of course, if you die, runs are shorter, but the max is what I’ve stated above.

The Upgrade System

This is something I also discussed in my review, but the way this game uses upgrades is pretty awesome. You do just go around and collect EXP, but when you choose up level a weapon, you also get to choose an upgrade the weapon itself. What I mean is that you could give the weapon an upgrade duration time, damage, attack radius and other such upgrades.

It really adds a layer of tactic too, as every stage has some little mechanic to go along with it. Such as your character being bigger, limited weapon and accessories or something else.

Final Words

I really have to say, this is one game I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre. Even if you haven’t tried a bullethell, this one is pretty easy to get into and understand. The only downside to some people might be the price. I did write a blog not long after finding this game that might be worth a read as well if anyone is still on the fence. I do know that this PSN shadow drop sure made me happy.

Peace.
