So here’s something new that I’ll be doing, personally. At the end of every month, I’ll be discussing the games I bought, and giving my opinions. Without further ado, let’s discuss my March 23 game pickups.

PS4

Shows the games Little Witch Nobeta and Fatal Frame

Little Witch Nobeta

I’ve been eyeing this one on Steam for my Steam Deck but when I saw there was a physical on (paid link) Amazon, I went that route instead. Advertised as a souls-like in anime style and magic, I had certain expectations. In short, I expected to get my butt kicked.

After getting far enough to beat the first boss, I can say that it is not looking like accurate advertising at the moment. Perhaps I just haven’t gotten far enough and to be fair, the game can be a bit of a challenge.

I’m not too far in, so perhaps I am judging too much too soon. I suppose I’ll find out as I continue my journey up the tower.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

After waiting 15 years to get my hands on this, I finally have it and well, I’ve also almost beaten it too. I’m on the final phase of my first run, and have been having a good time. I don’t want tonget too into it, since I’ll be writing a review afterwards, but I think a 2nd playthrough it required to fully understand everything.

There has been one significant moment, a story revelation, that took me by total surprise, and I have to say that I really enjoyed the plot twist.

PS5

Shows the games Scars Above, Resident Evil 4 and Octopath Traveler 2.

Scars Above

This one caught my attention on (paid link) Amazon due to looking similar to Returnal. A futuristic game on some unknown planet. Admittedly, I haven’t put too much time into it yet, but I can say that the graphics look very late PS3 or early PS4.

Combat so far is okay, nothing special. I haven’t played enough to say much else.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Everyone is playing this, I know, and I’m no exception. I’m on chapter 3, at the merchant actually, after a very rocky start in chapter 1. The game is pretty fun, lots of action, and hard at times too. Now, I’ll say that I expected a bit more horror, but action isn’t bad either.

The game is difficult, even on standard. Sometimes I believe it’s a little too difficult, but I’m going to storm through it. If you haven’t gotten a copy yet, it might be time to go grab (paid link) one and join the fun!

Octopath Traveler II

Throwing this out there first, I never did finish the first game. From what I know, that isn’t really important, in terms of if I should play the (paid link) 2nd or not, but just wanted to say.

I did start this with the Thief, but I literally only did the introduction, which was pretty cool, not going to lie. Since then though, it has been on the back burner due to other games.

PSVR 2

Shows the games Townsmen VR and Gran Turismo 7

Townsmen VR

I’m not 100% sure what drew me into playing this, but something did. Unfortunately I haven’t played much past arriving on the second island. There is some form of a story here, but I’m more curious about actually building a colony and seeing how that plays out.

Gran Turismo 7

Oh yes, I did include this here because I wanted to play specifically in VR, after some PSVR groups got to me. I have been having a blast since, just tearing up tracks and getting some $$$ to purchase new rides. It’s a good time.

I bought a wheel, and I have to say, it took me a bit to actually like it. After I made some very needed adjustments to the feedback settings, it just became amazing. I ended up with the Thrustmaster T150 (paid link) which is a middle ground wheel from what I’ve heard and been told by others. If you’re interested in getting a wheel or already have one, there’s a helpful guide on feedback recommendations I think is worth looking at.

Shows the game Light Brigade

The Light Brigade

As if I haven’t already talked about this game to death already, here we are again. It is just so fun, and if you haven’t seen the breakdown I did about the classes, might want to check that out.

This is a great PSVR 2 title for a lot of reasons. Your play session might be two hours or it might be 20 minutes. It will depend on the class you chose, the cards you find in the areas, and just how skillful you are.

This is quite possibly my most played PSVR 2 game to date, for good reason.

Switch

Shows the game Flame Keeper

Flame Keeper

I just talked about this one, mentioning how the game can be improved upon, and my opinions are still solid. Though I do really like the game, and I want that much to be clear.

It isn’t necessarily bad, but it just needs some tweaks. Despite what I said needs improved, the idea of collecting runes and getting upgrades to my skills keeps me coming back, just like any good roguelike.

Conclusion

I’m sure many of these will be in future blogs, which I already have ideas for a few, and I’m already looking forward to writing them.

I always find it fun to share what games I’ve picked up every month. As a collector, there is a hint of excitement in being able to discuss them.

Well, that’s all for my March (23) game pickups.

Until next time.
