Ah yes, comfort anime. We all have them, and for good reason. Despite all the other dozens of shows out there, these are the ones that we come back to, time and time again. That’s why today, I’ll be talking about my personal comfort anime list.
Accel World

While SAO might be the preferred of the two, Accel World deserves more attention than it got. Even though it only received 24 episodes, this has been one of my favorites for the past 7 years from the first time I found it.
Even though it has some flaws, and the second half of the anime isn’t exactly something I liked, I still re-watch my favorite episodes. Thankfully the (paid link) manga went past where the anime ended, and then the actual light novels (paid link) went way beyond where the manga stopped. So, plenty of material to devour if I wanted.
Toradora

This is a fairly popular one, so I’m sure it is recognizable. That’s good with me. Even though I typically try to stay away from popular anime due to the hype, I actually found this before I really knew much about it.
Taiga and Ryuji are just comical, but cute, and the whole story of them just makes me smile. This show had me hooked from the first episode, and I’ve seen the dub and sub multiple times since.
Though I don’t agree with some parts of the anime, it is always going to remain a favorite.
Digimon

Growing up, this show played a big part in my childhood. I was a kid when the OG came out and grew up with each season. Now, I’ll happily go back and watch any of them, some for nostalgia, but also because I still find it highly entertaining.
Though Pokemon also played a large part in my childhood as well, Digimon is the one I continue to go back to. It isn’t just a kid’s show, given that some of it can be decently dark. A few examples are the constant struggle for the title of leader. This is shown a couple times between Tai and Matt, then again in future seasons. Given that and then how tense of these battles get. I’m sure I’ll always watch Digimon in some form.
Conclusion
Does this list make you think of your own comfort anime? I hope so, because where would we be without them? Perhaps there will be more to this list down the road, but for now, I’m signing out.
Peace.
