Now that I’ve done the review, it’s time to share 9 Resident Evil Requiem tips that you might find helpful for your first playthrough. Let’s get started.

1. The Butcher Dies Easily

This guy drove me crazy my first time through, so much so that I didn’t even kill him. This was a huge mistake because he actually drops the pantry key, which has some useful irems and a good amount of blood to gather. So, how do you kill him?

You can do the most obvious route and shoot him but ammo is pretty scarce even if you’re crafting it. The Requiem is the best gun of choice for the task but what if I told you there was a way to one shot him? You read that right.

You need a Hemolytic Injector. Grace can craft these if you find the right materials. Then you just sneak up behind him, inject it and boom! Literally speaking, he does go boom but he’s dead afterwards and you can reap the rewards.

2. You Have Corner Cover

I didn’t know this until my second playthrough but you can actually get to a corner and look over without stepping all the way out. This is obviously helpful if you’re trying to avoid being seen and get an idea of what awaits you. This works in first and third person.

3. Grace’s 2nd Handgun

Many people may not know this, I sure didn’t until my 2nd playthrough but there actually exists a 2nd handgun in the Rhode Hill Care Facility for Grace, which does more damage than the one she picks up in the Dining Room. It’s actually Grace’s gun that she owns. We saw a glimpse of it at the hotel. You can find the second it in the Bar & Lounge, which I’ve added pictures for reference:

4. Save Your Antique Coins for the Override Manual!

This is something that I did not do and that’s my own fault. You play and learn, right? Anyway, if you happen to skip over getting the Override Manual, the max amount of blood you can carry is 100, which you need more than that to create health and gun power upgrades. These are pretty helpful for Grace so it’s highly recommend.

5. Leon’s Bike Ride, Reload Fast!

There’s a scene during your time with Leon that you’ll have to drive a bike and your weapon is a machine gun. If your ammo runs out, which it will, Leon takes longer to properly reload while driving. If you do a manual reload beforehand, he just toss the old clip aside and puts in a new. This saves a good amount of time.

6. Save Everything!

What I mean by this is to put everything into storage as Grace. Don’t just discard items! The reason for this is whatever you do in the first part of the game as Grace can become useful later on. I don’t want to spoil the story but all your items could be useful.

7. Explore!

This might seem obvious but I thought I would throw it out there. So many items can be missed if you don’t take the time to search around for them. These include documents, ammo and new guns. It ties back to number 4 on this list because if I had explored more, perhaps I would have gotten Grace’s handgun and had an easier time. This especially is true for Leon’s sections later because so much can be missed as you explore Raccoon City.

8. Sharpen the Hatchet and Learn to Parry

This is something I actually did not do much of until late game. I was forced to learn to parry and take care of my hatchet in a later section for a boss fight. It’s a pretty epic boss fight too, but the point is, make sure to learn to use the hatchet. It also is needed for a challenge against the Lickers later in the game.

9. Just Have Fun!

What? This is a tip? Yes, it is. The game a wild ride with plenty of story so enjoy yourself. Explore your surroundings, go see what you want to see. Bask in R.P.D. for an hour if you want. I know I did and I didn’t regret it. Just enjoy the experience.

Conclusion

Hopefully these Resident Evil Requiem tips will help you on your first run. I just completed my fourth as I’m typing, which was my Speed Demon (beat the game in under 4 hours) run. Make sure to come back to check out the speedrun tips that will be published tomorrow. Resident Evil Requiem is available on Steam, (paid links) PS5, XSX & Nintendo Switch 2.

Until next time, happy gaming!
