I’ve been having a lot of fun with Stardew Valley lately. I just did publish some beginning tips for that game and now I want to discuss some more, in a different ways. If you plan on smelting any type of ores into bars, you’ll need coal and you may need a lot of it. That’s why I’m going to go over five ways to get it.

Breaking Rocks

Whether you do this around the farm or in the mines, you do have a chance to pull some coal. However, this is pretty random and unreliable. So, this is my least likely way to go about getting them.

Processing Geodes

This is a random way to get them but it can be doable. Geodes are obtainable in the mines as you smash rocks. Very simple and they can be processed by Clint for 25g. However, the downside to this would be how spontaneous it is. Geodes themselves are not exactly plentiful to be exact, when compared to rocka and ores, but even when you do have them, they could easily be smashed to give you more rocks, ores or artifacts. So, should you use this method? Yes, but don’t bank on it.

Destroying Dust Sprites

These are found in the Mines starting on Floor 41 and continue for nearly 40 floors. Killing them has a chance to provide coal, as they dropped it when defeated. I won’t say this is particularly the fastest method but it’s my go to since it’s pretty simple and you also can pickup ores and other gemstones while down there.

Turning Wood into Coal

You can also use a Charcoal Kiln which is putting 10 pieces of wood into the machine and it producing a piece of coal. Personally speaking, I don’t like this method as I always need wood for buildings and the house, so I don’t like wasting it when I have other options available.

Conclusion

Well that’s it for this one. Are you now prepared to get yourself some coal? I sure hope so. Make sure to keep an eye on my Games I’m Playing articles for updates on my Stardew Valley progress. Until next time, happy gaming.
