Are you a fan of cats? How about RPGs? Well have I got a series for you. Cat Quest, and today we are doing a Cat Quest review. Now, this game series spans over three games but for today, we will only be discussing the first game. Let’s get started.

Story

Our furry friend ships wrecks after his sister is kidnapped by another cat named Drakoth. He quickly meets Spirry and the two set off on an adventure to get our sister back. We learn we are Dragonblood, a special type of cat who can use magic. Armed with this knowledge, we set forth to sly dragons, save our sister and learn the history of our kind.

Gameplay

As you play through the story, you’ll be battling many monsters in an open world using both weapons and magic. There’s plenty of dungeons to explore and uncover the secrets of along with quests! This game is definitely not short of either one of those. They are also your main ways to get both money, EXP, weaponry and armor.

One aspect I really enjoy about this game is just the freedom. You can go from doing a quest to taking on dungeons all at the same time. The world is just open and your playground.

Graphics

The graphics for this game are cute but work very well for the game it is. There isn’t anything spectacular about them, so don’t expect this beautiful, magnificent big budget game to stare at but definitely some good graphics.

Soundtrack

The music in this game is very relaxing most of the time with upbeat tunes to play to. When entering dungeons or most story sections, the melody changes to that of something with action. Overall, the melody this game puts off is great and easy going. Definitely check out the soundtrack.

Controls

These are easy and fun. You can customize what spells go to what button. These are limited to L, ZL, R & ZR. You move via the analog stick, roll with B, attack with A and so on and so forth. Basically, they’re very easy to learn and all work well.

Replayability

Cat Quest offers a great amount of replayability. Even after you’ve played the game and conquered all the quests, you can replay in New Game+ or start in Mew Game, which allows you to start a game with different settings like playing the game without armor, being stuck at level 1, only having 9 lives or stronger enemies. These can be mixed and matched, so there’s all kinds of replay value here.

Scores:

Story: 8/10

Gameplay: 9/10

Graphics: 8/10

Soundtrack: 8/10

Controls: 8/10

Replayability: 9/10

Conclusion

Cat Quest is a great game for anyone who wants to enjoy a fun story and fun gameplay. You can find the collection on (paid link) Amazon that has all three games. It’s very worth getting. Be on the lookout for a Cat Quest II review from me in the future.

As always, happy gaming.
