June hit hard with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which there has been a lot of hype around for myself and others. Below you’ll see plenty of those games and my thoughts alongside the other games I’ve gotten this month. Let’s get started with June’s game pickups.

Steam

Tormented Souls

I’ve tried this game a couple of different times but could never get too, too far in. I’m stuck in the first area currently because I died before I could save after a certain event and have not been back to play it yet.

Devil May Cry 4

I’ve already played this years ago on the PS3 but I got it as part of a Capcom bundle and thought why not?

DMC: Devil May Cry

I played some of this years ago but it’s been long enough for me to forget most of it. Either way, I am looking forward to diving in again.

Resident Evil 0

I’ve tried numerous times throughout the years to beat this game and only got close once. The Steam page says this game is unsupported on the Steam Deck, but we will see.

Resident Evil Remake

This is another game I’ve tried to play several times over the years. Both remakes and original versions but never got too far in either. Actually, the furthest I got was a couple hours or so into the DS version.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition

Alright so this is a Resident Evil title I’ve played numerous times and have beaten a few different times as well. It’s just been years since I did that last and thought I could play again on the Steam Deck to write a review so be on the lookout for that in the future.

Resident Evil Revelations

I’ve owned this game several times since its release and I have not beaten it once. Though, that isn’t to say I don’t like it. Actually, in some weird way, I think it’s one of my favorite Resident Evil titles for its gameplay and locations. I haven’t quite started it again since buying but I’m sure the time will come soon.

Remember Me

I’ve tried twice before to play this game and don’t remember getting very far. I figured I would give it another go.

Switch

Cat Quest The Pur-tastic Trilogy

Alright so I really enjoy the Cat Quest series. I was so hyped for the third game and even bought the (paid link) PS5 version. Unfortunately I didn’t play a whole lot of it but now I have the purfect chance to play all three games and write reviews for them. You can check this specific copy (paid link) here.

Lunar Remastered Collection

I thought I had missed my chance to buy this but thankfully a Canadian company got a restock so I ordered through them. I’m going to put this in the backlog for the time being until I clear a few other games.

Dark Receipt

I haven’t played any of this game yet but if you want to look at it for yourself, then here.

Max Cyber Shooter

Alroght so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from this. I’ve played roughly 10 minutes and haven’t been able to get off the first level. The game is actually somewhat challenging, though perhaps some of that is due to me not playing shooters. Anyway, I think the game is okay as of right now but that’s essentially all I can say.

Zombie Blocks Pixel Shooter Gun

I’m not entirely sure why I wanted this game. I suppose the zombies caught my attention and the fact it looks similar to Minecraft.

Eden Survivors

Let’s all welcome another roguelike auto-shooter into the family. This one involves mech suits and a wide playing field in the city. That’s the only stage I’ve seen up to this point but I’m sure there’s more. I have to say this game offers a nice challenge and is pretty fun. Maybe look at this video for a better understanding of how it plays.

Clock Tower Rewind

I’ve always heard many positive takes about Clock Tower and couldn’t help myself with this one. It offers a unique control scheme, using the left and right bumpers to move the MC, Jennifer, which is definitely something we would have seen in the SNES era, which it originated from. I’m yet to see anything spooky yet, other than the lights going out and initial first spook. Maybe after the Switch 2 hype has died a little, I will return to it.

Lunara: Planet IX

So I bought this not too long before the Switch 2 launched and it sort of got thrown to the side. It seemed like an interesting planet colonization game, which sometimes I really enjoy. For now, I’ll leave you the link to the Nintendo store page for more information.

Narcissus

I had a lot of anticipation leading up to this. Which is maybe a bit odd because it’s just a cheap indie horror title but it really caught my attention. You choose from three survivors on a space station and have to survive for as long as possible. I believe there are actual objectives too, but I honestly die too fast to even say. It’s a challenging game but that’s what keeps me going back to try again.

Switch 2

Mario Kart World

Like many others, this was the first game I booted up when I received my system and man, has it been a blast! I don’t typically play Mario Kart for long periods of time, but I have been with this one. I’m sure some of that has to do with the fact it is new, but I think that’s also the point. We had Mario Kart 8 for so long that I was more than ready for this.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

I was super excited that this was getting a remaster. I’ve tried to get into it a few times with the 3DS version and never could get past the prologue. Well, now I’m pretty deep into chapter 1 and 12 hours in. I’m absolutely loving every minute and the challenge is real. It’s been a fun visual upgrade and the game itself is just enjoyable.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

This is my first real step into the Rune Factory series and I think it’s been a fun one up to this point. I’m only about an hour in and I’ve decided to shelf it for now while I play Bravely.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S

Tetris has been a game for our household from the NES days and while this game changes the formula by adding puyo puyo to the mix, it’s such a fun party title. It even has a story mode which, I have to admit, is more difficult than it may sound. There was a stage within the first 5 levels or so that kept kicking my butt. This is definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys the games already or who are just looking for something different to play. Go grab yourself (paid link) copy today!

Sonic X Shadow Generations

I was a fan of the original game, although I didn’t play a whole lot of it. I’ve never been too big into Sonic so it’s typically hit or miss on the games I play from the series. This one caught my eye because they made a nice blend of retro and new. Now, it’s even better with Shadow having his own game as part of this. I’ve played three levels so far with Shadow and love it. The powers he obtains are a lot of fun and shake up the formula.

I’ll be playing this one in between my other games.

Cyberpunk 2077

I haven’t played this nearly as much as I thought I would have but it happens. With as many games as I have bought, it isn’t too surprising some of them got left behind. I do plan to hop onto this soon though. Perhaps grab yourself a (paid link) copy.

Fast Fusion

I know a lot of people were hyped for this one because it was developed by the same people behind Fast RMX, which I never actually played. However, I have played a good bit of this one and really enjoy how high speed it is. I am slowly working my way through the cups.

DS

Kirby Squeak Squad

For years I never knew this was an actual Kirby title. I thought it was a spinoff title with a bunch of minigames. It was thanks to our fellow authors Downs that I learnt what I did and I had to have a copy then. After beating Kirby Super Star Allies and also another Kirby title I am currently writing a review for, I have been in the mood for more of this series.

Systems

Switch 2

I’ve discussed this system a few times leading up to the release and even began rolling out reviews with Mario Kart World. I have a couple more in the works so be on the lookout for those. As for the system itself, I can’t get enough of it. This is exactly what I wanted, a more powerful Switch that also has a nice big screen. This is a perk for me and yet, it’s still lightweight and easy to use.

I know a lot of people are still upset that Nintendo didn’t upset the UI but let’s be totally honest, do you buy a system to stare at it? Do you boot it up and look at it like you are staring up at the stars at night? No, I doubt it. Just play your games and have fun.

Switch Lite

This is the refurbished Switch Lite that I wrote about here and also wearing the same case I did a review for. I’ve been playing Cat Quest exclusively on it. This isn’t my first Lite so it wasn’t exactly a new experience but it was a cool one.

Conclusion

June had so many games and releases with the Switch 2 launch. I’ve bought a few more in July already and am eagerly looking forward to Donkey Kong. With that said, I hope you perhaps found yourself a new game in this bunch and as always, happy gaming!
