Pokemon Legends Z-A Should Take Notes

With Pokemon Legends Z-A releasing sometime this year, I thought I would talk about what aspects of (paid links) Pokemon Scarlet & Violet should be carried over into this new entry. Also, which aspects of those games should not be allowed too.

While (paid link) Pokemon Legends Arceus was a truly amazing title, which I recommended as one of the ten Switch games to buy before the Nintendo Switch 2‘s release, it had its flaws and didn’t have an quite the open world that gen 9 introduced.

With all of this said, let’s just get into what exactly should be kept (and not) from those games.

The Open World

Although Legends: Arceus was amazing, which I dare say I enjoyed in some ways more than Scarlet & Violet, I still think that those games really drove home what was trying to be created. A mostly seamless open world Pokemon title. Sure, there may be some load times between certain aspects of the game but for most of it, you’re walking place to place just as easy as you can. It makes the whole map one giant play area versus how typically everything is loaded by section.

Please Allow Branching Objectives

So if there is another aspect that I think those two games did right was having three different storylines. You did not have to play them in any particular order either, which was the biggest draw of it all. I know I had at least 2 or 3 badges before I went to fight my first titan.

While I obviously want an amazing story out of Pokemon Z-A, I also wouldn’t mind a branching story line as well. If it all intertwines somehow and is done carefully that is. We’ll see.

More Personalization

One way generation 9 took one giant step back, it was the clothes. After generation 6, we all got spoiled to the customization of our outfits. Unfortunately, Scarlet and Violet took most of this away. Yes, you could choose your backpacks, gloves, shoes and hats but the actual clothes were not available. You could choose school outfits, but there were so few of those and it was nowhere the same.

While Legends Arceus still allowed for different clothing match ups and a touch of style. I enjoy having freedom over what my character wears, as I’m sure a lot of fans do too. So, I hope Z-A brings that back to us.

Conclusion

With the release of Pokemon Z-A getting closer with each passing day, we still know very little information about it. I think it is entirely possible we will see something new from the Pokemon company on Pokemon day, February 27th. We’ll just have to patiently wait and find out though.

If you missed it, go watch the trailer for this game. Happy gaming everyone.

I have never heard anyone call them pack backs. Here in the USA, at least California, we call them backpacks
