This idea came from a video I saw revently, and it seemed like a fun idea to write about. If you could only play one game per series for the rest of your life, what games would they be? I won’t be limiting myself to just a single series though, I’m going to cover multiple. Let’s hop in.
Pokemon

For me, it would have to be generation 2, and Crystal version. Although all the other games are quite amazing in their own way, I’m looking at how long a Gen 2 game is and the time it would take to complete. Given that there are 16 badges to obtain, and the levels on the gym leaders for Johto only rise, there’s some good challenge too.
With 251 Pokemon to catch, and two regions to explore, a lot of time could be sunken into this game, over and over again.
Digimon

This would have to be hands down Dusk. I’ve already played through this game multiple times, and have logged a good 300 hours at least between all the files. I think the fun bit of this would come from the different side quests that can be done, and also the amount of Digimon that can be collected.
Mario

This would have to go to Mario Sunshine. It was such a different title and offered a real challenge. Not to say games before it weren’t challenging, but I’ve had a significant issue with this game since I got it with my GameCube. I’ve tried many times to complete this game and failed.
Donkey Kong

Hands down has to be my favorite entry, Donkey Kong Country 3. I know there’s other games that will provide more time, but I can abandon all of the others to enjoy this wonderful game time and time again. From the level designs to the music, I always thought this game was the best from the original trilogy and it still remains as such for me.
Kirby

This has to be hands down Kirby’s Superstar Ultra on the DS. It has all the amazing games that came with the original SNES title plus some bonus content. Now I could cheat and say I wanted the Wii game, Dream Collection, which has multiple Kirby titles on it, but that just didn’t seem right to me.
I chose Superstar though for a few reasons. One being that the variety of games is interesting and keeps it all fresh, in my opinion. Not only that, I suppose it could be a nostalgia factor as well as the SNES version holds a lot of good memories.
Jak & Daxter

This would have to be The Precursor Legacy, the first game in the series. Although I enjoy all the games, there was something more open and free about the original, plus it was more comical and light-hearted, not to mention the beautiful scenery.
Ratchet & Clank

Well, put of all the games available, I’m going with the newest, Rift Apart. I know it might not be the longest entry, but it is among the best. Between the improved gameplay, visuals and the story, it’s hard to beat.
Fatal Frame

This is an easy choice, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. It’s hands down my favorite in the entire series, and not one I get tired of. The atmosphere is always keeping me on edge, and the suspense gives me chills. I’ve written a review for this amazing game, and it’s worthy of all I said.
Sly Cooper

The first game would be my choice here, as I believe it was the best there was. The other entries were fun too, but something about that first game was done so well and the story kept me on the hook the entire time.
Dead Space

Surprisingly, the first Dead Space title would not be my choice here. It would have to go for Dead Space 2 for the story, environment and improvements. Now the remake for the first game, which I did a review for, was amazing and is great in a lot of ways, but I’ve played the OG so much that it lost its beauty a bit.
Bioshock

The first game has to be it for me. Although Bioshock 2 was a great title and had a good story, I can’t go wrong with the introduction of Rapture in the original nor how it felt to explore it.
Conclusion
While many games could have been here, I didn’t want to make this list too crowded. Hopefully this made you also reflect on that one game you would play for the rest of your life, and this is just a reminder that this was a fun blog, nothing more.
