PSVR 2 Sales Numbers Shouldn’t Be Judged Yet

So if you’re here, perhaps you’ve seen that Sony’s headset isn’t selling anywhere near how they had hoped. However, a lot of people are jumping at the bit to call it a disaster, despite not even being out two months yet. I think this is very wrong, and I’ll explain why we shouldn’t judge the PSVR 2 sales numbers quite yet.

It’s Only Available on Their Website

Let me paint a picture for you. You can only get the headset from them. Not a GameStop, Amazon or Best Buy. No walking into a store and grabbing it off a shelf. This is only, exclusively, obtainable by purchasing through the Playstation official website. It makes a difference.

I imagine Sony has a reason for this. Some marking idea or something of the sort. Perhaps they’re even just trying to cut out the middle man. However, I think they need to hurry on up and get them to retailers. I think the #’s would see a significant increase if it is in front of someone’s face, versus that person having to go online and jump through their hoops. Yes, even Amazon, because buying off then is a lot easy and more convenient than Playstation’s site.

More Games Are Coming

This is literally the 2nd full month the system has been out. People are already complaining about there being nothing to play, despite it still being in the first quarter of the system’s launch. Regardless of all that too, there are actual games out there! Resident Evil 8, Pavlov, Light Brigade, Demeo, Gran Turismo 7, Pistol Whip, and others that I haven’t even had the pleasure of playing myself.

Point is, people jump to give this headset an awful rep, without even giving it a shot. We are too quick to judge after a couple months. Give it 6, give it a year. Then see where we are.

In Closing

All I’m trying to convey is, give it time. It seems it was shot down by so many people before they let it actually stand. I know the price point is higher than the PS5 itself, but it has some impressive tech inside. Also, in regards to mura and the “sweet spot” that we know about, give that time too. Starting units usually have some mishaps. This goes for all systems. If we wait, I think it will only get better.

Don’t believe those PSVR 2 sales numbers quite yet.
