With the new release of the fourth Fatal Frame game getting a remake and finally heading to the West, we need to discuss where to buy it. Obviously, there’s the simple answer if you’re buying digitally, but physical copies aren’t as easy. Lovers of physical media can’t simply order off Amazon or walk into the local GameStop or Walmart. No, this is a situation similar to Maiden of Black Water.

If that flips any switches in your head, then you know what I’m saying…PlayAsia! They’re the spot to order your Fatal Frame physical copies for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Sadly, there are no Playstation 5 copies, but perhaps we’ll get lucky with a free PS5 upgrade. That is if you’re okay using an Asian PSN account for it.
You’ll be able to find physicals for the PS4 and the Switch at PlayAsia, and if you’re interested in a limited edition, they have that too for Switch only.
As for my own physical needs, I’ve gone with the PS4 version in hopes of a PS5 upgrade. I’ve been wanting to play this Fatal Frame for years, but with the need to emulate or mod to play it, that left me out. I am looking forward to this journey soon, and I hope all the other fans are as well.
If you’re unsure where Mask of the Lunar Eclipse fits into the timeline, it is the fourth Fatal Frame game. It was released only in Japan in 2008 for the Nintendo Wii, and until recently, many were unsure if it would see the West, but here we are. Hopefully this is the start to more releases. Perhaps more remakes or new games entirely. Either way, I know I’ll be playing on March 9th.
