Another month gone. Actually, I’m slightly late on posting this but hey, at least I’m here now! So, let’s go over these July 2026 game pickups.
Systems
Sega Game Gear
After writing that article about pocket handhelds, I realized I really wanted to give a Srga Game Gear a go, since I never owned one previously. There were plenty of titles thar caught my eye and I’m sure plenty more to come. As for the concern about battery use, I bought some rechargeable batteries off of Amazon and they have been fantastic so far! Right under 2 hours for a full charge and roughly 4-5 hours for one use.
Sega Game Gear (Games)
Castle of Illusion
I’ve been wanting to give this series a try and now I get to. I’ve played some of it and like the idea behind it. The level designs seem fun at least and I like the challenge.
Ninja Gaiden
I havent given this game much attention yet but I got in within a game bundle that was a good deal for everything. I’ve never played much of the original Ninja Gaiden games, but this will probably be a great game to play in the future.
Super Columns
I did not expect to get sucked into this as much as I have. The story mode is still waiting to be completed but I enjoy playing Endless and just seeing my score. I plan to grab a copy of the regular (paid link) Columns sometime as well.
Switch 2
Digimon Story Time Stranger
Despite already owning the game on Steam and writing a review, I just had to have it again. As a long time Digimon fan, Time Stranger is one of the best games in the series if not that the best. You can check out some tips I wrote out but don’t miss out on this fantastic adventure and get yourself a copy off of Steam, (paid links) Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series X today!!
Steam
Summer Pockets Reflection Blue
After finishing and reviewing the anime Summer Pockets, I was watching the vosual novel for a sale. I was very pleased when it popped up and ended up getting the bundle. I’ll be sticking to this version though when I play given it has extra scenes and characters!
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
This has been on my list of games to give another try. It wasn’t one I ever got hooked on in the psst but that’s been years since my last retry.
Ghostwire: Tokyo
I bought this on the (paid link) Playstation 5 when I got the console but didn’t put much time into it. Well, I thought I would give it a second chance when it was so cheap.
Metro 2033 Redux
I honestly have never played any Metro title before but when Steam offered it dor $.99….I wasn’t going to say no. I figured I would give it a shot and who knows? Maybe I’ll find a new series to be a fan of.
The Shell Series
Definitely the more expensive pickup from the Steam sale but I still walked away plenty happy. I first watched The Shell, known then as Kara no Soujo, from Eric Van Wilderman. He did an entire playthrough, which you can see here.
The story revolves around Reiji trying to solve a murder while also falling in love with a certain black haired school girl named Toko in the 1950s. The story gets pretty heavy so I won’t spoil any details but this bundle gave me all three parts. I haven’t seen the second game in full and didn’t know the third game even existed until I saw this bundle so I am definitely excited.
Conclusion
I got a bit too many games to align with my goals for this year but it happens. I know August will be a much better month when it comes to that. Make sure to check out Downs’ review for (paid link) Star Fox. Until next time, happy gaming!
