We all know by now how much I enjoy the Dead Space games, especially the original (paid link) game and the (paid link) remake. One subject I have not covered, from the original game, are the weapons. Which do I deem the best and which the worst? Let’s get to it.
7. Contact Beam
Look, I really don’t like this weapon. I think it is next to useless when Necromorphs are charging at you. Sue me if I’m wrong but this is a weapon I don’t even bother buying or touching unless I’m forced to for an achievement of some kind.
6. Flamethrower
Not quite as bad as rhe weapon before it, but still an overall boring gun. Yeah, it sets them on fire but they still beat you while you’re using it. Not really the greatest solution when you’re surrounded in my opinion.
5. Line Gun
While a bit better than the weapons above, this can at least be useful to make quick work of your enemies. However, I find it too bulky and overall, not for me. A fully upgraded gun may be nicer but it takes too long to do anything when you’re out of ammo.
4. Ripper
Personally, I’ve found some use for the Ripper. It cuts off the limbs nicely and makes decently quick work out of them. The downfall is that it doesn’t necessarily stop you from being attacked either.
3. Force Gun
This is a good weapon if you’re surrounded or even if the Necromorphs are too close. It will blast them away and their limbs too. I don’t use this weapon too often compared to the other two I’m about to talk about, but it’s definitely up on the list.
2. Pulse Rifle
I really enjoy this version of what a machine gun essentially is. It was fast, useful and packed a punch when upgraded. Next to the #1 weapon on this list, I always had a Pulse Rifle on me during my playthrough.
1. Plasma Cutter
Alright, finally we have reached the very first weapon and what other would it be but the trusty Plasma Cutter. There is a whole achievement about this very weapon, where it has to be the only weapon you use. Not a hard achievement either, given this is a nice powerhouse.
