May has come and gone and I’m thankful for that. We all know what next month is! June! What releases in June? The Nintendo Switch 2! With all the excitement buzzing, I can hardly focus! With that said, I still have work to do and that brings us to our May game pickups. Let’s discuss.
Steam

Dark Devotion
I tried this one for a few minutes. It seems alright but I don’t have an opinion yet.

The Witness
I haven’t spent any time with this at all.

Rocket Rats
I just wrote a review for this so you may want to check that out. This is another roguelike auto shooter that we all know I love at this point.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy
This is another one of those games that I’m not sure how many times I have actually owned it. I love these games very much and they hold a special place in my library as I grew up on them. It will be nice to play through them once more, so keep your eyes out some reviews in the future.
Switch

Ty Bush Rescue Bundle
This bundle includes Ty, Ty 2 and Ty 4 all on one cart. why is there no Ty 3? Not really sure but perhaps a licensing issue. These are a great throwback to a series that deserves more love. I’ve already booted up the first game and have started my adventure into the Down Under.
If you’ve never experienced a Ty game before, this is a good place to start. He uses boomerangs as weapons but they sure pack a punch. They also offer some comical moments with some fun gameplay. They may not be the best games out there but they’re deserving of a play through for sure. If interested, find a (paid link) copy here.
Crystar
I’ve bought and sold this game a few times, unfortunately, but it is here to stay this go around. I beat it years ago on the PS4 and nearly had the platinum trophy as well. This time I will be adventuring on the Switch version and you all will see a review hopefully following in the somewhat near future.
Atelier Yumia
I’ve never really given a fair shot to the Atelier series but I had to spend some money with Target to claim a deal they offered me, so here we are. I’ve played through the prologue and started chapter 1. It seems pretty interesting so far, but I can’t give a valid first impression yet. If you are interested though, maybe check out some gameplay and then decide if you want to (paid link) buy a copy.
Tokyo Xanadu eX+
I completely forgot this game even has a Switch version until I was looking for games on sale to talk about. Well, I decided I would go ahead and buy a copy, since I have been wanting to play it. I’m about 4 hours in at this point and having some fun with it. The gameplay is very similar if not even very much the same as Ys VIII, so take that for what you will. If you want a (paid link) copy for yourself, go for it.
Death end re;Quest 2
I was out of town and just happened to stop at a GameStop. Of course I had to go in and browse, which I’m glad I did. This game wasn’t necessarily on my radar but I got it for $30 and I couldn’t refuse. I’ve played about 4 or 5 hours so far and I’m really getting into the story. It’s quite dark and very interesting to me. The graphics are a little bland looking when you’re running around the city but I can love with them given the story and gameplay are what are keeping me there.

Pilo and the Holobook
I haven’t touched this outside of a few minutes with the demo. So far, all I’ve gathered is you’ll be traveling the world and collecting data in a book.

Dex
Alright so I sort of just grabbed this because it was on sale for $.19 and I had to at that price. I usually hear positive takes on it too so I figured it was a great deal. I havent actually played any yet.

Anime Girls: High School of the Dead
I’m not sure why I really wanted this other than I just wanted to shoot some zombies. It isn’t a horrible game but I didn’t play much to give an opinion yet.

R.E.P.O. Horror
So this is an issue with the debelopers behind the real and popular Repo title on Steam. This is a cheap knockoff that has nothing to do with the actual game, and it focuses on the player exploring spooky locations and taking items to sell for profit. It’s very poorly done and it shouldn’t be bought in support of the actual game. However, I decided to give it a good regardless to write a review on it in the future.

Dragons Legacy Monsters Lair
I honestly thought this might be fun to mess around with because it had dragons. It’s pretty empty from what I’ve seen so far, which is just the first level, but oh well. Exploring landscapes as a dragon might still be fun, even on a budget.

There’s a Gun in the Office
So in my quest to enjoy horror games and experience them, I thought this might be a different type of game to get into. You’re kidnapped and your kidnappers leave for a certain amount of time each day. You’re given 5 days to poke around and get the gun in the office.
I haven’t actually played this outside of a quick minute looking at it. There is no option to give but I do think the game looks interesting enough.

Submarine Survivor
Another survivor type of game that plays a bit differently. You’re in a submarine and you have to choose a different mission tgpes to play under. For example, one mission may be loaded with explosive mines that you have to navigate as you fight the enemies of the ocean.
Conclusion
That’s all for my May pickups. Now next month, which is when you’ll be reading this article anyway, we will be seeing the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. I am very excited and cannot wait to get my hands on it. I’ve already discussed it enough as is so just stay tuned.
Happy gaming!
