We have another review incoming for a roguelike auto shooter! You guys know how much I just adore these. I happened to find a new one on Steam that looked interesting so here we are. Let’s discuss this Rocket Rats review.

Gameplay

The most important part. It plays similar to other autoshooters out there but with small twists along the way. You start with a basic rat and go up into space to do battle. Your rat auto shoots your enemies and you just try to maneuver and survive. Enemies drop cheese which acts as the currency at the home base to upgrade your rats’ capabilities and skills.

After each round, you’re given the choice of a few different upgrades or tools to help you on your journey. Such as an increased fire rate, a bigger ammo compacity, the possibility of having lightning strike your enemies and other upgrades of that sort. There are also temporary upgrades that will last for five rounds that can be useful as well.

Graphics

These are pretty decent and I actually enjoy them. They aren’t like Twilight Survivors but they’re just different. The enemy designs are cute.

Soundtrack

I feel like the music really sets the mood. It matches what you’re doing, which is fighting in outer space. Now, all levels sound the same though so that’s disappointing but it could be worse.

Controls

These are fairly simple. You just move around while your rat auto shoots the enemies and them choose upgrades as prompted.

Replayability

Once you’ve played the game once and made it through a whole round, there isn’t much to do. It’s unfortunate too since this game had a lot of promise.

Scores

Gameplay: 6/10

Graphics: 6/10

Soundtrack: 6/10

Controls: 7/10

Replayability: 5/10

Conclusion

Rocket Rats may not be the best of the best out there but I do believe it is worth your time and money. I caught this on sale for cheap, so I would recommend doing the same if interested. You can find it here. With that said, I hope you all enjoyed this review and I’ll catch you next time. Happy gaming.
