I’ve been on a bit of a Muramasa kick lately. As I’ve been playing, there have been a couple of the game’s aspects that have been bothering me. One was easy to figure out, the other I had to get a reminder for. What are those? How to gain spirit and soul. Soul was simple enough but spirit was more annoying. Well, so how exactly do you get both? Let me break it down!
What Are They Used For?
You need both to forge new blades. So now you see why they are incredibly important to the game and your progression. Later blade will require a fair amount of both.
Soul
Let’s get started with the easiest of the two or maybe the most obvious. Souls are what you see hanging around on the screen and what you collect from your enemies after you’ve beaten them. The more enemies you slay and fights you get into, the more souls you rack up.
Spirit

This is the one I consider to be less obvious. How do you get spirit? The answer is so simple that I shook my head when I figured it out. Food. You eat food. The best comes from the food you either cook or the food you buy from the different restaurants around the map. Unfortunately this information flew over my head for a couple hours, stupidly, and I was so confused why I wasn’t getting any after I hadn’t eaten anything in a while.
Conclusion
Were either of these aspects of the game bothering you or caused you any real annoyance? Well I hope that this information has served you well and I did my job right for everyone who reads this. Make sure to check out this article I wrote about a couple Vita games I bought in 2026. If you do not already own a copy of Muramasa, it is available on the (paid link) Wii and the (paid link) PS Vita.
Until next time, happy gaming everyone.
