I recently beat Digimon Survive for the first time. After a few full playthroughs, I’ve come up with some advice for beginning players. Now, if you haven’t already bought this (paid link) game, I highly recommend it and do check out our review. Let’s get started with these Digimon Survive tips.
Train Free Digimon Too
As tempting as it may be to use the human’s partner Digimon for most battles, I can’t stress how important it is that you also assemble a strong team of free Digimon as well. Free Digimon are the ones you find in free battles who you can converse with and get on your side. I don’t want to spoil any story details but there was a certain point where I only had one child’s partner available for use and had to rely on other Digimon for the fight. This made for a difficult challenge since I hadn’t focused too heavily on them up to that point.
Save Before Every Choice for Affinity
Affinity is raised by picking the right choices when you talk to other characters. This helps in a variety of ways, such as team attacks while in battle. It also means units supporting each other by healing HP, SP or boosting stats momentarily. You need a high affinity to get the Mega Digimon later in the game, so my method was to save before every decision to ensure I chose the right choices and had the highest affinity I could have.
Regularly do Free Battles!
You want to ensure your Digimon are gaining levels and that you’re getting items that you can feed to them to increase their stats. I can think of a few times over the course of my playthrough that I had to grind away in free battles before I could actually finish a story battle. This might sound like obvious advice, but I didn’t focus too heavily on these when I first played. It really hit hard later in the game when I couldn’t progress past a very specific story battle.
Conclusion
If you decide to hop into this game or you are already playing it, I hope that you can find these Digimon Survive tips helpful. I know my time with this game was well spent and highly enjoyed. We are only a few short weeks away from (paid link) Digimon Time Stranger so be on the lookout for upcoming content involving that. As usual, happy gaming.
