Alright so I think I am finally ready to write a review for Hello Kitty Island Adventure. After the many articles about cabins, not time traveling and whatever else, it is time to get down and dirty with a review. Let’s get started.

Story

My Melody is invited to an island to open up a shop. Everyone tags along for the adventure and upon arrival, we learn the island seems very empty. What do we do? Explore! When we start, we soon learn of a holographic being named Tophat who needs help regaining his memory. Thus our adventure begins.

Gameplay

Similar in style to (paid link) Animal Crossing to some extent, you’ll be running around the island doing quests, talking to the Sanrio characters, building cabins for guests to stay in and also decorating your own cabin. There’s plenty of items to run around and collect, which are really useful for a variety of reasons such as crafting.

You can dress up your character and also change their appearance at any time. I’ve been a cat and a bunny but I’ve seen plenty of people change on the daily. It’s just that easy to do. The island is pretty large and they’re still adding locations to the list with updates.

Graphics

I feel like these are pretty great and stay true to the Sanrio graphics style that you would find in other titles in the series.

Soundtrack

I found all the music to be fitting to each area. Of course, mine was the Spooky Swamp’s tunes but they all were done quite well.

Controls

The controls for this game are pretty simple but work very well for what they did with them.

Replayability

This game has amazing replayability as far as I am concerned. You can keep coming back to it day after day, even after the main story is over. Now I have heard there is an actual ending to the game but I haven’t seen it for myself as I have just completed the initial main story that the game launched with. Still, you can always start a new file and enjoy it all over again.

Scores

Story: 8/10

Gameplay: 9/10

Graphics: 8/10

Soundtrack: 8/10

Controls: 8/10

Replayability: 10/10

Overall:

Conclusion

If you’re in the market for a cute and cozy game that you can spend hours playing, this is a must have. It runs typically $39.99 for the digital or $59.99 for a (paid link) physical, but you can catch it on sale sometimes. I highly recommend this game as there’s still new content being developed and a lot of love has gone into it.
