Wizards, wands and monsters? Sounds interesting, but this isn’t Harry Potter. Instead, this is Spellagis and it’s a newly released roguelike auto shooter, which we all know I love.
If you follow the link above, you’ll find some game recommendations for the genre. I really enjoy when I get a new one, and this game is no different. Let’s begin this review.
Gameplay
This differs from games such as Army of Ruin, Monster Panic and Zombie Survivors by each wave offering the chance to buy upgrades to your attack, range, speed and also purchase other weapons. To give an example of a game similar in this mechanic, look at Brotato.
Otherwise, the game plays similar to every other roguelike auto shooter. You survive wave after wave until you finish the stage. Each one has 15 waves and gets progressively harder. So far, I’ve died maybe 3 times.
Every character has some sort of benefit or take away. Such as one finds coins easier from barrels and another will have a triple shot but has a decreased attack speed. I personally used the one who gave me more coins for a majority of the stages.
Graphics
These aren’t too bad. Definitely an improvement, in my opinion, from King Krieg, but aren’t as good as Whacking Hell. They do the job.
Soundtrack
Music isn’t too bad in this game. It gets slightly monotonous after awhile but I guess that could be said for most of these games in the genre.
Controls
These are standard and I say that for almost every auto shooter review but it’s true. You run around, hit a confirm button and go about your business. There isn’t anything special to these, but that’s okay. It works.
Replayability
I say this game has a moderate replay value. Once you finish all the levels and get all the upgrades, there isn’t much of a reason besides just wanting to try different characters or creating your own challenges.

Conclusion
If you’re in the market for another roguelike and any of this sounds interesting to you, grab it. Spellagis is cheap, provides a decent amount of playtime (I’m estimating 4-6 hours depending on your death count) and is simple to just grab and play.
