So! It is spooky season, or was. Here are my top 5 video game scary video game characters and why they did a great job in creeping me out.

1. F.E.A.R- Alma.

Alma was this little girl with paranormal powers that you had to find in the game. Why was she creepy? You would be doing your usual squad thing and out of nowhere, she’d show up and give you horrendous dreams of murder or worse things to come.

2. Condemned: Criminal Origins – the Following Mannequins

There’s an area in a mall you investigate where you run into a wall of mannequins. All I remember as you’re creeping around in the dark, is this group of faceless mannequins that gradually follow you. Eventually, you’ll be trying to leave the area and they’ll block your exit a couple of times. Why did they do this? You’ll just have to play to find out!

3. Dying Light – Volatiles

Volatiles are these hyped up zombies shriek at night and don’t back off. Mixed with the ambience of a violent rain storm, they are a menace of the night to not be taken lightly. I normally run until I get to the safe zone, but sometimes I am dating and take a couple down. Otherwise, I avoid this shrieking creatures loud enough to wake Cthulhu itself!

4. Silent Hill – Pyramid Head

This entire game smells of creepiness and hopelessness, but going toe to toe with Pyramid Head is not a fun time. Especially if he gets you while chasing you down .

5. Slender Man – Slender Man

Okay, these games were interesting because they weren’t in the vein of pure survival, but I considered them more of “avoid this” horror. Meaning, you have to avoid the impending danger approaching you. You did have a passive objective to escape and find clues, but it only takes one slip and before you blink a Slender Man is already in your face with his blank face.
