I think I have said plenty about this game, but here we are with the very official Cult of the Lamb review! How exciting! Since the last post I made, discussing how addicting this game is, I actually beat the final boss. Now, this is a review without the DLC touched, so walk forward with that knowledge.

Gameplay

This is split into two sections

Crusades:

These are where the rogue-like dungeon elements come into play, where you’ll be given two random weapons and set out on an adventure to slay a boss at the end of your journey. These start off relatively short, and get longer as you challenge the area over to reach the Bishop of that location.

Cult:

This is where you’ll be tending to your followers, and the overall growth of your cult. All of that consists of making sure followers are fed, cleaned up after, have beds and are rested when sick. However, the payoff is that they’ll worship you, give you devotion, can chop down trees and mine rocks to help gain you materials. On top of that, there’s different buildings to create, from jails to outhouses and more.

Also, all the rituals that can be performed, the sermons to unlock new weapons, and the crown abilities are what keep you going. There’s something always going on to keep you entertained, from crops to construction work.

Story

I can’t say it is a very in depth story, but it exists. The lamb you play as is about to be sacrificed when the fallen Bishop offers to give you new life in exchange for service. Upon resurrection, you’ll be tasked with doing what was said above, growing a cult in his name, plus killing the other 4 bishops who cast him out before.

I won’t really spoil what happens afterwards, but it gets interesting.

Music

Cult of the Lamb has a very soothing soundtrack when it comes to the Cult, laid back. The batrle music isn’t anything too crazy, but it fits the scene.

Graphics

Despite it’s very cute demeanor, this game really brings the action, and some morbid moments with sacrifices and the Bishops’ followers stabbing themselves to feed the power.

Scores:

Story: 7/10

Gameplay: 9/10

Controls: 9/10

Soundtrack: 8/10

Replayability: 8/10

Overall:

In Conclusion

With the game being relatively cheap, but offering a decent amount of hours and some engaging game play, this is a very different type of adventure. Anyone looking for a change from the normal, this might very well be your game. Amazon has some (paid link) standard copies for $34.99 or the deluxe (paid link) for $49.99.

Be warned though, it does deal with satanic rituals, themes and anyone who is heavily into religion may take offense. Be advised, and thank you for reading our Cult of the Lamb review.
