Rayman has been pretty absent for the last several years. The last game being Rayman Legends which released for Steam, (paid links) PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U & Switch over around or over ten years ago depending on the platform. Of course, now we have Rayman 30th Anniversary and that is what brings me to my next topic. Will we see Rayman 2 in the future?
Backstory
Rayman 2 originally released in 1999 for the (paid link) Nintendo 64, then we later received it for the (paid link) PS1 & (paid link) Dreamcast in 2000 with a (paid link) DS version in 2006. Lastly, we received a (paid link) 3DS version in 2011 which was the last released version to date.
Future Games
With the release of the Rayman 30th anniversary, I think our odds of seeing future releases just went up. The obvious choice, in my opinion, would be to remake Rayman 2 or release an upscaled version of it at least. However, we have already seen similar action taken with Nintendo 64 titles like Glover.
My Personal History
I was first introduced to Rayman 2 on the PC when I was a kid. We had a desktop and I somehow had gotten a disc. Now I can’t recall where rhe disc came from, I always assumed someone had bought it for me but the details are quite fuzzy. Anyway, I played about half of it on there and then later on the DS. I’ve never gotten as far as any other system as the DS version. Then I went to the 3DS which I actually have the least amount of experience with.
Conclusion
Will Rayman 2 be released in the future as a remake? Who’s to say but the probability increased in my opinion. If sales go well for the 30th anniversary collection that is. We’ll just have to sit tight and see what happens. Until next time, happy gaming!
