Oh boy, oh boy do I have a fun trip ahead for us this time. After loving (paid link) The Naturals and doing a review for it, I immediately jumped into Killer Instinct and it did not disappoint one bit. However, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s begin.

Synopsis
“Seventeen-year-old Cassie Hobbes has a gift for profiling people. Her talent has landed her a spot in an elite FBI program for teens with innate crime-solving abilities, and into some harrowing situations. After barely escaping a confrontation with an unbalanced killer obsessed with her mother’s murder, Cassie hopes she and the rest of the team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance.
But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean’s incarcerated father-a man he’d do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer’s psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer’s brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good?”

Thoughts
Coming off of The Naturals, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect or where to expect the story to go. Well, the author did it again. Drew me in so quick that I was hooked. A copycat killer a little too close to home, more story arc for one of my fsvorite characters and adding the stern but cool Agent Sterling to the mix? This book is great and dare I say, better than the first.
Score

Kill Instinct delivers a better story than the first book by expanding on the universe that was created and giving us deeper insight into each of the characters. I was hooked pretty quickly and didn’t want to put it down. The guessing game of who was behind it all and how kept me on my toes, which I enjoy in a good murder mystery. It’s how it should be. Definitely a series worth checking into.
