So I was recently looking at the games on sale over on the eshop. To my delight, I found House Flipper was on sale for $4.99. I’ve played this game a few times across different systems in the past, but I thought it would be fun on the Switch. Oh how I was wrong.

Now I get to come here and discuss why you should not waste your money on this specific version of the game. Usually, it’s a very fun title but I couldn’t stand it. Let’s discuss why that is.

Starting Money

The general way this game starts out is that you have $30K at the start and you work your way up by doing jobs, buying your first house, fixing it up and flipping. Then you would get your next house, rinse and repeat until you have purchased every house at least once and get to the top.

Unfortunately, the Switch version ruins the fun right from the start by giving the player $500K. This completely takes away the buildup, the hard work and excitement of finally getting enough profit to move to the next, bigger house to play in. Upon seeing this, I actually just quit the game. There was no longer a reason to play it if I couldn’t enjoy the adventure.

Low Quality Graphics

The graphics for this game are incredibly low end. You can say what you want about the (paid link) Nintendo Switch but the game should absolutely not look as bad as it does. I first thought it was just me, but further inspection shown that no, it is indeed a big Switch problem.

Conclusion

If you’re looking to get into this game for the first time, I would highly recommend skipping this version if you have other options open to you. Unfortunately, they somehow butchered what was so fun about it. I’ve played a good portion of the (paid link) PS4 version and loved it.

  1. […] Should you skip the first house or not? Well that decision is entirely up to you. I feel like I wasted time on it myself and could have gotten more out of other houses. If you don’t have this game, House Flipper is available on Steam, (paid links) PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Though, I would avoid the Switch version personally. I explain that in detail here.
