Welcome back to a new review for a different type of game. Dagger Froggy is a roguelike that you guys may know by now that I really enjoy. It was just recently released on the Nintendo eShop and thought I would dive in. So, how is it? Let’s discuss.
Gameplay
This is not an auto shooter like Army of Ruin, Vampire Survivors or Twilight Survivors. Instead, you do control where your daggers are thrown by A, B, X & Y. You’re tasked with surviving hordes of enemies, each set having more than the last. If you survive the horde, you get to choose a skill upgrade of some kind. Then it is rinse and repeat until you either die or you win. Each stage lasts 10 minutes.
You’ll be able to unlock other frogs to play as once you reach level 6 with a skill during a game. You can also purchase permanent upgrades from the shop to help with the coins you gain from enemy drops. The game isn’t very long with four stages, but I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a breeze to get through.
The final stage throws in a loop that I won’t talk about but it ties in with the game’s name.
Graphics
These are so so. I think they could be better but not by much given what the game is. They aren’t awful and they do the trick. Maybe I’m being too lenient on them, but they get a decent pass in my book.

Soundtrack
The soundtrack for this alright but it isn’t anything special. Most of what you hear is just the sounds of your daggers flying across the field and the other weapons going off.
Controls
These do the job. Throw the dagger with the controls I mentioned above and move with the left Joycon. They’re pretty simple.
Replayability
I would say this game has an alright replayability. I wouldn’t say it would be something I would revisit often but maybe after a few months.
Scores
Gameplay: 7/10
Graphics: 6/10
Soundtrack: 4/10
Controls: 6/10
Replayability: 5/10
Overall:

Conclusion
Dagger Froggy may not be the best of the best but it provides entertainment for a good couple hours or so. If you enjoy a game that you can just sit down and play for ten minutes at a time, this is a good chance for you. It is also inexpensive. If you decide to pick it up, I hope you enjoy. Until next time, happy gaming.
