It’s a sad day when one of your used to be favorite apps takes a nosedive. For me, that would be Amino, so let’s go ahead and discuss Amino being a buggy mess.

What is Amino?
Amino is an app with several different communities. The user would make an account, and then they would be free to join whatever community they saw fit. It branches from gaming to book, TV, movies, hobbies and pretty much anything.
Once you joined, you could make blogs, stories and wiki entries about whatever topic of the community you’re in. For example, I have been a part of VGA (Video Game Amino) for a long time, off and on, for the last 8 years. I would make blogs similar to what I create here, people would comment and you would make a few friends maybe.
Now, it’s…well…
Buggy and Ads
Don’t get me wrong about the ads. Those are on a majority of websites (including mine) and it’s a way to make some money. However, Amino ads pop up at random. Sometimes when you enter a community, and other times when you click on a post to read. Not only that, but some of the ads shown are explicit. Now, I personally don’t care, but there’s children who were on the app.
Let’s also not forget that it is a buggy mess now. The app just genuinely runs slow, won’t load anything and sometimes randomly closed out. It’s a very sad state from where it used to be.
The End?
Well, is Amino actually on its last leg? I’m not sure. I know it had been sold off to a different company some time ago, and they made all these promised to make it better, but it definitely has not improved. I’m sad to see, but I also have nearly left the app a few dozen times within the last year.
Is it Worth Using?
I suppose this is more of a personal question to ask yourself. I’ve found that I’m currently in three communities, two of which I’m the leader of. Although I plan to stay in the video game Amino for the purpose of linking some blogs here, overall, I don’t think it’s a great place to be anymore.
When you consider that you could join a lot of Facebook groups and share your thoughts in posts, it sort of puts it in a weird place. Now, Amino does offer you to use a username of your choice, so there’s that if you’d prefer to stay more anonymous, but some Facebook groups allow for anonymous posting as well.
Final Words
Although it once was a fun and vibrant place to hang out in, Amino being a buggy mess leaves a lot to be desired in 2023. I would personally recommend finding a different rabbit hole to jump into before choosing Amino.
